Okay, so, I was trying to figure out the schedule for the Marquette women’s tennis team. You know, just wanted to see when they’re playing next, and where.
I started digging around, and it turns out they’ve got a bunch of matches lined up. They said the 2024-25 schedule is ready. Cool, right? And it looks like they’ll be playing a good chunk of their matches at this place called the Helfaer Tennis Stadium, which is right on their campus. Twenty home matches are waiting for them in 2025.
Then I got curious about the players. Found out that there’s this one player, Sarah Badawi, who’s a senior. I thought, “Wow, she must be pretty good to be playing at this level for so long.” And it turns out, half of the whole team moved from different parts of the world just to play tennis for Marquette. They left their families behind, can you imagine? That’s some serious dedication.
- Emma, from Germany.
- Ilaria, from Italy.
- Lara, from Spain.
While I was checking things out, I saw that the whole team made it onto the 2021-22 BIG EAST All-Academic Team. That’s like, being good at tennis AND smart. Impressive, huh? They are really working hard, keep it up!
I even watched a little bit of one of their matches online. When those girls talk to each other during the games, they’re not just talking about taking a little rest. No, no, no. They are talking about how to play the next point and stuff. They are going through strategies, thinking about how to win. It’s way more than just taking a breather.
Something unexpected
But then, I found out something kind of sad. Starting in 2025-26, the tennis team won’t be a scholarship program anymore. Same goes for the track and field teams. That’s gotta be tough for the players, right? They’ll still play, but it won’t be the same.
Anyway, that’s what I found out about the Marquette women’s tennis team. It was interesting to learn about their schedule, the players, and everything else. They seem like a really dedicated bunch, even with the changes coming up.
