Well, lookie here, you wanna know ’bout them Mercer Bears and their football scores, huh? Alright, alright, I’ll tell ya what I know. Don’t expect no fancy talk though, I ain’t got time for that.
So, these Mercer Bears, they play football, you know, that game with the pigskin? They’re part of this big college thing, NCAA they call it. Big school, lots of fancy folks, I reckon. They got a team, and they run around and throw that ball, tryin’ to score points. That’s the whole shebang, really.
Now, I hear tell they’re pretty good, these Bears. Ranked sometimes, too. Means they win a lot, I guess. They play other schools, like that East Tennessee State, and that Furman Paladins. And Princeton too! Fancy names, ain’t they? But the Bears, they give ’em a run for their money, that’s for sure.
I seen somethin’ ’bout a fella named Whitt Newbauer, throws the ball real good, they say. Gets them touchdowns, that’s what gets ya the points. And this Adjatay Dabbs, he catches them balls, I reckon. Good team, these Bears. They play in Macon, Georgia. That’s where their school is, you see.

They got this coach, Mike Jacobs, he’s new, but he’s doin’ alright. They even said he might be the best coach in the whole country! Can ya believe that? A fella named Eddie Robinson, they give an award after him. Big deal, that award is.
Mercer University, that’s the name of the school. Been around a long time, I heard. Started playin’ football way back in 1892! Can you imagine? That’s a long time ago, even before I was born, and that’s sayin’ somethin’! They played against the University of Georgia back then. Another big school, I bet.
So, when you wanna know the score, you gotta look it up. They play all sorts of games, and the scores change all the time. Sometimes they win big, sometimes they lose close. That’s football for ya. One week they might beat one team real good, and the next week, well, who knows?
They had a game against Alabama recently. Alabama’s real good, everyone knows that. But the Bears, they put up a good fight, even though they lost. That’s what I heard, anyway. Can’t win ’em all, I always say.
And these fellas on the team, they get all kinds of recognition, they call it. Means people notice ’em, say they’re good players. That’s nice for them, I reckon. Works hard, plays hard, deserves a pat on the back, that’s what I say.
So, if you wanna know the exact scores, you gotta go look it up. They got websites and such for that now. Fancy stuff. But the important thing is, them Mercer Bears, they play hard, they try their best, and they make folks proud, I guess. That’s all you can ask for, ain’t it?
I ain’t no expert on football, mind you. But I know a thing or two about tryin’ hard and doin’ your best. And that’s what them Bears do, from what I hear. So good for them, I say. Good for them.
