Okay, so I gotta share this whole tennis thing I’ve been messing around with. It all started when I stumbled upon this app, TennisPAL. The idea is pretty simple – you use it to find folks nearby who also wanna play tennis. Sounded cool, so I decided to give it a shot.
First things first, I downloaded the app and made a profile. I put in a nice picture of myself and wrote a little bit about how I’m more of a casual player, just looking to have some fun and get a bit of exercise. I set my location to North Andover, since that’s where I am, and started browsing.
It wasn’t long before I found some potential tennis buddies. The app lets you see other players’ profiles and their skill levels. I messaged a few people who seemed like a good match, and boom, I had a game scheduled for the next weekend at Merrimack College. They’ve got some pretty decent courts over there, apparently.
Now, I haven’t played tennis in ages, so I was a bit rusty. But, I grabbed my old racket, dusted it off, and headed to the courts. Met up with this guy, Chris, who I found through the app. Turns out, he’s a student at Merrimack College and plays for their tennis team. Division I, no less! I was a bit intimidated, not gonna lie.
We started hitting the ball around, and let me tell you, Chris was good. Really good. He was patient with me, though, and gave me a few pointers. We played a few sets, and even though he beat me pretty handily, it was a blast. I even used the TennisPAL app to share our favorite moments.
After our game, we got to talking, and he told me a bit about the tennis program at Merrimack. They’ve got a full schedule, coaches, the whole nine yards. It was pretty interesting to hear about the college tennis scene. I even found their schedule and info about their scholarship program online later on – pretty impressive stuff.
I’ve kept using the TennisPAL app, and it’s been a great way to meet new people and get back into playing tennis. I’ve played with a few other folks, some around my skill level, some better. It’s been a good mix. And it’s always nice to discover new courts around town.
Here is my experience:
- Download the TennisPAL app.
- Create a profile.
- Find tennis partners in North Andover.
- Schedule a game at Merrimack College.
- Meet Chris, a Division I tennis player.
- Play a few sets and have fun.
- Learn about the Merrimack College tennis program.
- Continue using the app to find new tennis partners and courts.
So, yeah, that’s my Merrimack tennis story. If you’re ever in North Andover and looking for a game, hit me up on TennisPAL! Just kidding, but seriously, it’s a fun way to get some exercise and meet new folks. It’s not always about winning, right? It’s about having a good time and enjoying the game. I will keep playing and sharing, anytime, anywhere.
