Okay, so today I messed around with trying to get a good handle on the MIAA hockey brackets. You know, the whole playoff picture, who’s playing who, when, the usual deal. It’s always a bit of a scramble when the tournament season rolls around, so I figured I’d get ahead of the game this year and make it easier on myself.
Digging In
First, I just started poking around online. Just general searches, you know, “MIAA hockey brackets,” “high school hockey playoffs,” stuff like that. I was hoping to find, like, one central place with all the info, but… no such luck. It’s always scattered across different websites, different formats. It’s a pain!
I spent a good chunk of time sifting through different athletic association sites, school websites, and even some local sports news pages. I started making notes, jotting down teams, divisions, potential game dates – basically anything that seemed relevant.
Putting the Pieces Together
After gathering all this random info, I figured I needed a better way to organize it. I just opened up a simple spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, just something to keep track of the different divisions, the teams involved, and the schedule as it started to take shape.
- Column 1: Division (like, Division 1, Division 2, etc.)
- Column 2: Teams – started listing them out as I found them.
- Column 3: Dates/Times – a lot of this was “TBD” at first, but I filled in what I could.
- Column 4:Locations, many are still up in the air.
It was slow going. I felt like a detective, piecing together clues from different sources. One site might have part of the bracket filled in, while another had different seedings or game times. It was a real jigsaw puzzle.
Still Some Gaps
Even after all that work, I still don’t have the complete picture. There are definitely some games and times that are still up in the air. And, honestly, I’m sure things will change – there are always upsets and adjustments as the tournament progresses. I update it regular as clockwork.
But, hey, at least I have a starting point now. I’ve got a spreadsheet that’s way more organized than my scattered notes from before. I can keep updating it as more information becomes available, and hopefully, it’ll make following the tournament a lot less chaotic this year. If you are doing the same, start a spreadsheet! It will save a headache.
