Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to get back into tennis for a while now. I used to play a lot in high school, but, you know, life happens, and I just haven’t had the time. But recently, I started looking into it again, and I stumbled upon Monmouth University’s tennis program. I figured, “Why not?” It’s close by, and from what I saw online, they seemed to have a pretty decent setup.
First thing I did was dig around their website. Found their athletics section pretty easily. They’ve got this whole page dedicated to their sports teams, and of course, I zeroed in on the tennis part. They call themselves the Hawks, which is kinda cool, I guess. From what I gathered, they’re a Division I team, and they’re part of the Coastal Athletic Association now. That sounded pretty serious, so I was curious to see what their program was like.
Then, I started checking out the team’s roster for the 2024-25 season. Just wanted to get a feel for who’s playing. They’ve got a good mix of players, it seems. And I looked up the coaches, too. Seemed like a solid team.
Getting Involved
Now, I’m not trying to make the team or anything. I’m way past my prime for that! But I was hoping to maybe join a club or something, just to play recreationally. I found out they have a Recreational Tennis Club. The whole point of it is to give students a place to play tennis, meet people, you know, the usual. It’s all about promoting tennis skills and fitness, which is exactly what I’m looking for.
So, I went ahead and filled out their online questionnaire thingy. It was pretty standard stuff, just basic info and whatnot. I just put down that I was interested in playing recreationally, not trying to compete. I’m not looking for any scholarships or anything. I just want to hit the ball around and have some fun.
- Filled out the recruiting questionnaire: Just to get on their radar, you know?
- Checked out the team roster and coaches: They seemed legit.
- Looked into the Recreational Tennis Club: This is where I fit in, hopefully!
- Reached out to someone at the school to know more details: I’ll let you all know how it goes.
I’m really hoping this works out. I miss playing tennis, and it would be great to find a group of people to play with regularly. Plus, it’s a good way to stay in shape and all that. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes. Maybe I’ll even share some pics or videos if I end up joining the club. Wish me luck!
