Okay, so today I want to share my experience with Nate’s Hockey Camp. It was something I decided to try out, so, here’s how it all went down.
Getting Started
First off, I signed up. I’d heard about this camp from a couple of buddies who’d taken their kids. They said it was a good way to get into hockey, or improve, no matter your skill level. I was a bit skeptical, but I figured, why not?
The First Day
The first day, I showed up, feeling a bit like a fish out of water. I mean, I’ve played some hockey before, but it’s been a while. Everyone else seemed to know each other, laughing and chatting. I just stood around awkwardly for a bit.
Then, one of the coaches, a big, friendly guy named, I think, Mike, came over and introduced himself. He showed me around, introduced me to a few other people, and suddenly I didn’t feel so out of place.
Hitting the Ice
We got on the ice, and they started us off with some basic drills. Skating, passing, shooting… the usual stuff. I was rusty, for sure. I wobbled a bit, missed a few passes, and my shots were… well, let’s just say they weren’t exactly going where I wanted them to.
- Skating drills: I work to improve speed.
- Passing drills: I focus on accuracy.
- Shooting drills: I try for power and aim.
Getting the Hang of It
But, the coaches were really patient. They worked with me, giving me tips, correcting my form, and encouraging me. Slowly but surely, I started to get the hang of it again. My skating got smoother, my passes connected more often, and my shots… well, some of them actually went in the net!
More Than Just Drills
It wasn’t all just drills, though. We also played some scrimmages. That was fun, even though I was pretty much the worst player on the ice. But hey, I was learning, and I was having a good time.
The Final Day and Wrap-up
By the end of the last practice, my legs were very sore, my body was worn, but it was a good worn. I had pushed myself, learned a lot, and made some new friends. It was definitely a worthwhile experience. I felt a sense of accomplishment, even though I know I still have a long way to go.
So, that’s my story of trying out Nate’s Hockey * you are geting into hockey, you can try it.
