Okay, so I’ve been a die-hard Nebraska Cornhuskers fan since, well, forever. And I’ve always wanted to show my love for the team in a permanent way. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a Nebraska football tattoo. Let me tell you, the whole process was a journey!
The Hunt for Inspiration
First things first, I needed to figure out what I wanted. I spent hours, and I mean hours, scrolling through pictures online. I looked at everything – from simple “N” logos to elaborate Herbie Husker designs. I even considered getting a tattoo of Tom Osborne’s face, but my wife quickly vetoed that one (probably for the best!).
I finally settled on a design that incorporated the classic “N” with a subtle ear of corn woven into it. It felt like the perfect mix of classic and unique, just like me (or so I like to think!).
Finding the Right Artist
Next up, the REALLY important part: finding a tattoo artist. This isn’t like getting a haircut, folks. This is permanent! I asked around, got recommendations from friends, and checked out online portfolios. I wanted someone with experience doing clean lines and detailed work. I also wanted a shop that was clean, because NO infection!
I found a local shop with killer reviews and an artist who specialized in the style I was looking for. We had a consultation, and I showed him my design ideas. He gave me some great feedback and made a few tweaks to make it even better.
The Big Day (and the Pain!)
Finally, the day arrived. I was nervous, excited, and maybe a little bit terrified. I’m not gonna lie, it hurt! Especially when he was working near my ankle bone. I’m not a cry baby! But I kept thinking about those National Championships and all the good times I’ve had watching the Huskers, and that helped me power through.
- The artist prepped my skin, made sure everything was sterile.
- He applied the stencil – that was a weird feeling!
- Then the buzzing started…and the needle went in.
- The pain, it’s difficult, but I kept going!
It took about two hours, with a few short breaks. The artist was super professional and kept checking in to make sure I was doing okay.
The Aftercare Obsession
After it was done, he bandaged it up and gave me a whole list of aftercare instructions. I followed them religiously! I cleaned it gently, applied the special ointment, and kept it out of the sun. I was like a hawk watching for any signs of infection (luckily, there were none!). It’s not easy to keep it!
Showing Off My Husker Pride
Now, it’s fully healed, and I absolutely love it! It’s a constant reminder of my passion for the Huskers, and it’s a great conversation starter. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of all the great memories I’ve made as a fan. Go Big Red!
