Okay, so, I’ve been digging into the New Mexico State Aggies football team lately, and I wanted to share my process for figuring out their depth chart for the 2024-25 season. It’s not as simple as just looking at who’s starting, you know? You gotta consider the backups, the whole roster, the positions… it’s a whole thing.
So, first thing I did was to hit up a few of the big sports sites. They usually have some preliminary info, and it’s a good starting point. I looked for anything that mentioned starters, backups, or even just the general roster.
Offensive Positions
- Quarterbacks: This is always a key position, right? I checked which quarterbacks were listed and tried to get a feel for who might be the top dog based on any articles or reports I could find.
- Running Backs: Similar deal here. I looked at the names and tried to piece together who might be getting the most carries based on any previous season stats or news.
- Wide Receivers: Lots of names to sort through, I paid special attention to anyone mentioned as a potential breakout player or a reliable target.
- Tight Ends: Not always the flashiest position, but important. I looked for any info on who might be a good blocker or a red-zone threat.
- Offensive Line: These guys are the unsung heroes. I tried to find out who the likely starters are and if there were any new faces who might shake things up.
Defensive Positions
- Defensive Line: I looked for players who are good at getting to the quarterback or stopping the run. Any mention of “pass rush” or “run-stopping ability” caught my eye.
- And so on… I basically repeated this process for the rest of the defensive positions, looking for any clues about who the key players might be.
After I gathered all this info, I started putting together my own little depth chart. It’s not official or anything, just my best guess based on what I could find. And of course, I’ll keep updating it as the season gets closer and more news comes out.
It’s a bit of a puzzle, putting together a depth chart, but it’s kinda fun, too. You get to play armchair coach and try to predict how the team will look. Anyway, that’s how I’ve been spending some of my time lately. I just thought I’d share my process in case anyone else is interested in this kind of stuff. It’s a good time to be a college football fan!
