Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get some good pictures of the Ohio State vs. Michigan football game for a while now. It’s, like, the biggest rivalry in college football, and the atmosphere is always insane. I figured this year I’d finally make it happen.
First things first, I needed a ticket. Those things are harder to find than a needle in a haystack, especially this close to the game. I spent hours refreshing websites, scouring forums, and even considered selling a kidney at one point (just kidding… mostly). Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I snagged one from a friend of a friend who couldn’t make it. Score!
Next up, the gear. I’m not a professional photographer or anything, but I do have a decent camera. I dusted it off, charged up the batteries, and cleared out some memory cards. I even borrowed a longer lens from my buddy who’s way more into photography than I am. I wanted to make sure I could capture those long bombs and epic tackles from the stands.
Game day finally arrived, and I was pumped. I threw on my lucky Ohio State jersey (gotta represent!), grabbed my camera bag, and headed to the stadium. The energy was electric. You could feel the anticipation in the air. It was a sea of scarlet and gray (and some maize and blue, but we won’t talk about them).
- Found a decent spot in the stands with a pretty good view of the field.
- Started snapping away as soon as the teams ran out.
- Tried to get some action shots, some crowd shots, the whole nine yards.
Let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it looks. Those players are fast, and the lighting in the stadium can be tricky. I definitely missed a few good shots, but I also managed to capture some pretty cool moments. I’m especially proud of a picture I got of the winning touchdown. The crowd went wild, and I think I captured that raw emotion pretty well.
After the game, I rushed home, uploaded the photos to my computer, and started editing. I’m no expert, but I tweaked the brightness and contrast, cropped a few, and generally just tried to make them look a little better.
The Result
All in all, I’m pretty happy with how the pictures turned out. They’re not perfect, but they definitely capture the spirit of the game and the intensity of the rivalry. It was an awesome experience, and I’m glad I finally did it. Now I’ve got these pictures to remember it by. Maybe next year I’ll even try to get a press pass… who knows?
