Well now, y’all, let me tell ya a little somethin’ about that big football game between Oklahoma State and Baylor. I tell ya, that game was somethin’ else, didn’t go the way folks thought it would, but it sure was a nail-biter. You see, it was down in Waco, Texas, on a fine Saturday afternoon—October 26, 2024 to be exact. The crowd was all rowdy, as you can imagine, and they was expectin’ a good show from both sides. But let me tell ya, Baylor came out on top that day, beatin’ Oklahoma State 38 to 28. I reckon Oklahoma State didn’t know what hit ‘em!
Now, I’m sure y’all heard about that Sawyer Robertson, the Baylor quarterback. That boy was somethin’! He threw three touchdown passes and even ran one in himself. There was one point where he threw a pass to Hal Presley, and that boy ran it in for a 12-yard touchdown. They done that in just four plays, all the way across 99 yards, and I tell ya, the whole stadium was up on their feet, hollerin’ and carryin’ on like you wouldn’t believe.
But it wasn’t all easy for Baylor, no ma’am. Oklahoma State wasn’t just gonna lay down. They gave Baylor a real fight, and boy, it sure looked like it might come down to the wire. But in the end, Baylor’s defense stood strong, and they held on for that 38-28 victory. Baylor hadn’t won a home Big 12 game in eight tries, so you know that crowd was more than ready to celebrate. They been waitin’ for this for a long time!
That game sure had its ups and downs, but I reckon the most important thing was that Baylor, led by their tough running back Dawson Pendergrass, showed what they were made of. Now, this Pendergrass fella, he looked like he was gonna get stopped a few times, but he just kept on goin’. Kept them feet movin’ and churned out some big yards when they needed it most. That boy’s got heart, that’s for sure.
And let me tell ya, the way things were goin’, Oklahoma State was probably feelin’ pretty good about their chances up till the very end. They got themselves some good plays, but them last-minute defensive stops from Baylor were too much. It looked like a real battle of wills, and when it came time to stand strong, Baylor was the one to do it. They sure made that crowd proud!
When you look at the history of these teams, you know it’s been a bit of a back-and-forth over the years. Just look at some of the games they’ve played against each other. Back in 2022, Baylor had a tough loss at home, 36-25. But this year, they came back strong and really turned the tide. It’s been a long road for Baylor, but they sure showed they ain’t givin’ up anytime soon.
Now, there’s always folks wonderin’ about the numbers behind the game, so let me tell ya a little about that too. Oklahoma State was doin’ pretty good with their passing game, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with Baylor’s offense. The Cowboys had some big plays, but them last-minute mistakes hurt ’em. There’s always a few of ‘em in a game like this, and this time, Oklahoma State just couldn’t pull it together when it mattered most.
But Baylor, well, they did what they had to do. They ran the ball strong, they passed well, and when it was time to play defense, they didn’t back down. It was a complete team effort, and you can’t ask for much more than that in a game like this.
So, that’s the story of how Baylor took down Oklahoma State, 38-28. I reckon they’ll be talkin’ ‘bout this one for a long time down there in Waco. They’ll remember that game for years to come, and rightly so. It’s one of those wins that could be a real turnaround for the team. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re all feelin’ a little bit taller after this one, that’s for sure!
Well, y’all, that’s all I got for now. But if you ask me, this was one heck of a game, and I reckon we’ll be seein’ more of these kinds of matchups in the future. Football’s a funny ol’ game, full of surprises, and you just never know what’s gonna happen next!
