Well, you know, Olpe football is somethin’ real special ’round these parts. Been watchin’ them boys play for years, and let me tell ya, they ain’t just good, they’re somethin’ else. Now, if ya ever been to Olpe, you know it’s a small town, but them Eagles, boy, they can sure pack a punch on that football field.
They got a good team, and every year, they go out there and do their best. The boys play with heart, and that’s what makes ’em different from a lot of other teams. Take this past season, for instance, they done scored 28 points straight to beat the Inman Teutons 35-6 in the championship game. Now, that’s what I call a showin’ off! The Eagles didn’t just win, they dominated that game like they was hungry for the win!
Garret Cole, one of the young fellas, sure stepped up. That boy led the offense with three touchdowns. Now, I don’t know much about all them fancy plays, but I do know when somebody’s makin’ plays count, and that Garret sure did. The way he carried the ball, it was like he was born to run down that field. It wasn’t just about speed neither, it was about movin’ with purpose.
Now, if you been followin’ Olpe football for any time, you’ll know that their quarterback, Damon Redeker, he’s somethin’ special. That boy’s got his head on straight. Remember back in 2020, when they was up against the big teams in that 1A State Championship? Damon flew right outta bounds, but he didn’t let that slow him down none. He came right back, and that’s what made him such a good leader. You see, it ain’t just about throwin’ the ball, it’s about leadin’ your team and liftin’ everyone’s spirits. And Damon, well, he done all that.
Olpe has been buildin’ up a real strong tradition over the years. Two back-to-back championships, you bet that’s somethin’ to be proud of. In fact, they done won their second straight 1A State Championship against Inman, and they weren’t messin’ around. They routed them 35-6 again. Now, that score just tells you how strong they are. They just don’t back down.
Every time Olpe gets on that field, the whole town’s out there watchin’. It don’t matter if it’s hot or cold, or rainin’ cats and dogs, them folks come out to show support for their team. And you can bet the boys on that field feel that support. It helps ‘em push harder, play better. The town don’t just show up for the game, they show up to cheer their hearts out. And when that final whistle blows and the Eagles win, you better believe it’s a celebration like no other.
But it ain’t just about the championships or the big scores. It’s about the heart and soul of Olpe football. They play for the pride of their town, for their coaches, their families, and for each other. It’s that spirit that’s kept ’em goin’ all these years and made ’em such a force to be reckoned with. Every game is a reminder of what it means to be a part of somethin’ bigger than just yourself.
So, if you ever get the chance to watch a game at Lewis Field Stadium, I tell ya, you won’t regret it. There’s somethin’ special about watchin’ Olpe football. Whether it’s the rush of the game or the sound of the crowd cheerin’, it’ll make you feel like part of the family. And with a team like that, you know they ain’t stoppin’ anytime soon. Keep your eye on the Eagles, ’cause they ain’t done flyin’ high yet!
