Okay, so I wanted to get back into tennis, and I heard about this place, Bass River Tennis in Beverly, MA. I figured I’d give it a shot and document the whole experience.
Finding the Place
First things first, I needed to find this place. I did a quick search on my phone, and got the address. It wasn’t too far from where I live, so that was a plus. I hopped in my car and, typed the address into my GPS. The drive over was pretty straightforward, no major traffic or anything.
First Impressions
When I pulled up, it looked like a pretty standard tennis facility. There were a bunch of outdoor courts, and a main building. I parked my car and walked inside. The front desk person was friendly, asked if I had been there before. I said no, and they explained a bit about the place – they have lessons, leagues, open court time, that sort of thing.
Getting on the Court
Since I was just looking to hit around a bit, I booked an hour of court time. They assigned me to one of the outdoor courts.
I went to the assigned outdoor court. It was a nice, well-maintained hard court. Not too crowded either, which was nice.
Hitting Around
I didn’t have anyone to play with, so I just practiced my serves and groundstrokes. I’m definitely rusty, my serves were all over the place at first! But after a while, I started to find a bit of a rhythm. It felt good to be back on the court, swinging the racquet, getting some exercise.
Overall Experience
- Courts:Good condition, well-maintained.
- Staff: Friendly and helpful.
- Atmosphere: Relaxed, not too crowded.
- My Game: Rusty, but improving!
Overall, it was a solid experience. Bass River Tennis is a good spot to play, especially if you’re in the Beverly area. I’ll probably go back, maybe even sign up for some lessons to get my game back in shape. It was nice to just get out there and hit the ball around – a good way to spend an afternoon!
