Okay, so I finally got around to checking out the McGhee Tennis Center. I’d heard some good things about it, and, you know, I’m always looking for a decent place to play.
First thing I did was scope it out online. Needed to find out where exactly it was and what the deal was with court reservations. The website was, well, let’s just say it wasn’t the most user-friendly thing I’ve ever seen. But I managed to find the address and figured out I could probably just show up and see what’s up.
So, I packed my gear – racket, balls, water bottle, the usual – and drove over there. It’s tucked away a bit, not super obvious from the main road, but I found it eventually. Parking was no problem, plenty of spaces.
Checking Things Out
I walked in, and the first thing I noticed was the front desk. There was a guy there, seemed pretty chill. I asked him about court availability, and he said they had a few open. Sweet!
He explained the rates – pretty standard, nothing crazy. Then he showed me around a bit. They’ve got quite a few courts, both indoor and outdoor. I opted for an indoor court, figured it’d be better with the sun blazing down.
- Indoor Courts: Looked pretty well-maintained. The surface seemed decent, not too worn out.
- Outdoor Courts: Didn’t play on them, but they looked okay from a distance.
- Other Stuff: They had a little pro shop with some basic gear, and some vending machines. Nothing fancy, but it’s all you really need.
Hitting Some Balls
I got on the court and started hitting. The court played pretty true, the bounce was consistent. I spent a good hour just rallying and working on my strokes. It was a solid practice session.
Overall, I’d say the McGhee Tennis Center is a pretty good spot. It’s not the fanciest place in the world, but it’s got everything you need for a decent game of tennis. The courts are in good shape, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I’ll definitely be going back.
