Okay, so I’ve been trying to get more active lately, and I thought, “Why not try tennis?” I’d played a little bit in high school, but nothing serious. I heard about this “Queen City Tennis League” and figured I’d give it a shot. Honestly, I was pretty nervous at first.
The first thing I did was look for information. I found some details, I had to register for a particular session, and of course, there was a fee. It wasn’t too bad, though.
Getting Started
I registered online. Super easy. They had all the instructions right there. Filled out a form, paid the fee, and boom – I was in! I think it took like, I don’t know, 10 minutes? Maybe less.
Then came the hard part… actually showing up! I dusted off my old racquet (seriously, it was in the back of the closet), bought some new tennis balls, and made sure I had some decent shoes. I didn’t want to roll an ankle on my first day.
First Day Jitters
- I arrived at the courts. There are several locations.
- I found my assigned court (they sent an email with all the details).
- I met my partner – we were playing doubles. Nice guy, seemed about my skill level, which was a relief.
We warmed up for a bit, just hitting the ball back and forth. My forehand was okay, my backhand… needs work. But hey, that’s why I joined the league, right? To get better!
The Match
We played our match. It was… intense. We lost, but it was close! I definitely felt like I got a good workout, and it was actually a lot of fun. Even though we didn’t win, I felt pretty good about it. My goal going was just to learn and have fun.
Afterwards
After the match, we chatted with the other team for a bit. Everyone was super friendly and encouraging. We talked a little bit about strategy, and some tips.
I left the courts feeling pretty tired, but in a good way. I was already looking forward to the next match. This league thing might actually be a good idea after all.
So yeah, that’s my experience with the Queen City Tennis League so far. I’ll probably keep posting updates as I go. Wish me luck – I’m gonna need it!
