Well, let me tell ya about this fella Robert Colon, ya know. He’s a basketball player, real good one too. Came from Jacksonville, North Carolina, and boy, could he play! Played for Winston-Salem State University, and folks around there sure know his name. He’s tall, ‘bout 6’1, and during 2016-2020, he wore that jersey for the Rams. Now, I ain’t no basketball expert, but when someone’s got talent like that, it’s hard not to notice.
Now, let’s talk a bit ‘bout his college days. Robert, well, he was a real standout. His senior year, 2019-2020, oh boy, he was on fire! He averaged ‘round 16.9 points per game, making him one of the top scorers in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). I reckon he was the fifth best that year. Played 29 games, started in 23 of ’em. That ain’t no small feat, lemme tell ya. And the way he led his team to that CIAA championship, well, that was something mighty special.
Folks say Robert could shoot from deep, ya know, like them long shots from way back. He wasn’t afraid to let it fly, and most times, it went right through the hoop. Real smooth. I heard folks call him a legend in CIAA, and that’s no surprise with all he’s done. When you score over 1,700 points in your college career, you’ve earned that title fair and square, don’t ya think?
Let me tell ya, Robert Colon wasn’t just some regular player. No, sir. He’s the seventh all-time top scorer in Winston-Salem State University’s history. Can ya imagine that? So many players came through that school, but Robert? He’s right up there with the best of ’em. And with all them points, folks were sure talkin’ ‘bout him all over the place.
Now, after all them college days, Robert didn’t just hang up his shoes and call it a day. No, no. He had bigger dreams. He went ahead and signed himself a contract to play professionally in the Dominican Republic. Yep, he took his skills overseas, and I reckon that’s just the start for him. Playing basketball abroad, that’s a big deal, especially for someone like Robert. You gotta have a lot of heart and dedication for that, and Robert’s got plenty of both.
Ya know, a lotta folks might not realize just how tough it is to make it in professional basketball. But Robert, well, he’s a fighter. Always was, always will be. Back in high school, he caught the eye of scouts, and from there, it was clear he was goin’ places. Charles Clark, one of them scouts, well, he saw the potential in Robert early on, and Robert sure didn’t disappoint. No, sir. He made his mark, alright.
When folks talk ‘bout Robert Colon, they’re not just talkin’ about some guy who played a few games and moved on. No, they’re talkin’ about a fella who left his mark on the court, a guy who gave it his all every time he stepped out there. Whether it was college ball with the Rams or now as he’s movin’ on to play professionally, Robert’s the kind of player folks don’t forget. He’s got that fire in him, ya know?
So, that’s Robert Colon for ya. From high school standout to college legend to professional player overseas. And who knows where he’ll go next? But one thing’s for sure – folks in Winston-Salem and Jacksonville will be talkin’ ‘bout him for a long, long time.
