Well, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout them tennis courts in Saco, Maine. Folks ’round here, they like to keep busy, and tennis, well, that’s one way they do it.
Saco, she’s got herself a good few places to whack that little yellow ball around. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I seen ’em with my own eyes. Tennis courts, they got ’em. Softball diamonds too, but that ain’t what we’re talkin’ ’bout now, is it?
Now, these courts, they ain’t just for them fancy folks with the collared shirts and the tiny shorts. Anybody can play, young or old, good or… well, not so good. Heck, even I could go out there and swing a racket, though I’d probably hit myself more’n the ball!
They got this here Parks and Recreation fella’s, and they take care of things. Keep them courts lookin’ nice and all. They want folks to get out and move around, not just sit on their behinds all day. Good for ya, they say. Gets the blood pumpin’, or somethin’ like that.
- They got plenty of courts, so you ain’t gotta wait too long.
- And they keep ’em open for the season, so you can play when the weather’s nice.
Heard tell they even got this here USTA tennis thing for grown-ups. Learnin’ to play, they are. Imagine that! Grown folks learnin’ new tricks. Good on ’em, I say. They even added another one on Saturdays, so more folks can join in the fun.
Seems like they opened up the courts back in April, after the winter, you know. Can’t play tennis in the snow, can ya? Well, maybe some crazy folks do, but not me. I like my toes warm, thank ya very much.
These parks fellas, they’re always doin’ somethin’ good for the town. They got volunteers too, helpin’ out. Stewards, they call ’em. Sounds fancy, but they just regular folks helpin’ keep things tidy.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to play some tennis, Saco’s the place to be. Don’t matter if you’re a beginner or a pro, they got a spot for ya. Just grab a racket and get to swingin’. And don’t worry if you ain’t no good. Nobody’s gonna laugh, ‘cept maybe that ol’ crow up in the tree, but he laughs at everything.
They even got this pickleball thing too, but I ain’t got a clue what that is. Sounds like somethin’ you eat, not somethin’ you play. But hey, folks seem to like it. To each their own, I always say.
Anyways, them tennis courts in Saco, they’re a good thing. Gets people out and about, havin’ fun. And that’s what matters, ain’t it? Good, clean fun. And maybe a little bit of sweat too. But that’s good for ya, they say. Keeps ya young, or somethin’ like that.
So go on, give it a try. You might just surprise yourself. And if not, well, at least you got some fresh air and a little bit of exercise. Can’t hurt, right? Just watch out for that crow, he’s a real jokester.
Now, where did I put my glasses? Can’t see a thing without ’em. Ah, here they are. See? Even old folks can have some fun. Maybe I’ll go watch them tennis players sometime. Looks like a good way to spend an afternoon, as long as I don’t have to do too much runnin’ around myself!
