Well, ain’t this somethin’, talkin’ ’bout this… uh, Sacred Heart men’s hockey. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Like somethin’ you see on that picture box, all them fellas skatin’ ’round, chasin’ after that little black thing.
So, they got this team, see? Call themselves the Pioneers. Pioneers, huh? Like them folks back in the day, goin’ out west, makin’ a new life. Guess these boys are makin’ a new life on the ice, huh?
They play that… what’s it called? College ice hockey? Right, college ice hockey. Big deal, I reckon. These younguns, they go to school and play hockey too. Fancy that! Must be workin’ their tails off, studyin’ and skatin’. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ ’bout it.
- They’re in somethin’ called Division I. Sounds important. Means they’re good, I guess. Like the top of the heap.
- They got a coach, you know. Someone tellin’ ’em what to do, how to skate, how to hit that puck into the net.
- They got this thing, SOG. Shots on goal, they call it. How many times they try to get that puck in the net. More the better, I figure. Gotta score to win, right?
Sacred Heart, that’s the name of the school. Sounds all religious-like. Don’t know much ’bout that, but I guess they’re serious ’bout their hockey.
These boys, they gotta practice, right? Get their legs strong, learn how to skate fast, how to pass that puck. Must be hard work. And they gotta travel, play other teams. Seein’ all sorts of places, I bet.
They got a roster, I heard. A list of all the fellas on the team. And they got stats, too. Numbers tellin’ you how good they are. How many goals they scored, how many times they got hit with the puck, all that stuff. Numbers, numbers, numbers.
Folks get all worked up ’bout this hockey, I tell ya. Cheer their hearts out, yellin’ and screamin’. Makes for a good time, I guess. Gets people together, havin’ fun. That’s important.
This team, they been ’round a while, I think. Makin’ a name for themselves. Gotta be proud, them boys. Representin’ their school, showin’ off their skills.
So, that’s about all I know ’bout this Sacred Heart men’s hockey. A bunch of fellas skatin’ around, tryin’ to score goals. Seems like a good way to spend your time, if you ask me. Better than sittin’ around doin’ nothin’, that’s for sure.
