Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and work on my basketball skills. I haven’t played seriously in a while, so I figured I’d head over to the San Martin courts and see what I could do.
Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed my old basketball from the garage. It was a little deflated, so I pumped it up. Then I threw on some shorts and a t-shirt, and laced up my sneakers. Ready to go!
The Practice
I drove to the San Martin courts, lucky me there was only one other guy there shooting around. I started with some basic warm-up stretches, you know, gotta loosen up those muscles. Then I began with some simple dribbling drills.
- Dribbling: Right hand, left hand, crossovers…the basics. My handles were rusty, I’m not gonna lie!
- Shooting: I started with free throws. Brick, brick, swish…eventually, I got a few in a row. Then I moved on to some layups, then jump shots from around the key.
I spent a good hour just working on these fundamentals. The sun was beating down, I was sweating, but it felt good to be moving and getting some shots up. I am very tired.
Wrapping Up
Finally,I finished my practice with a few more free throws, trying to get that muscle memory working. Then I packed up my ball, chugged some water, and headed home.
Overall, it was a solid workout. Nothing fancy, just me, the ball, and the hoop. I’m definitely going to try to make this a regular thing. Maybe next time I can get a game going!
