Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this tennis thing at Seton Hall, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I’m not a pro or anything, just a regular guy who likes to hit the ball around and get some exercise.
First off, I had to figure out what kind of tennis was available at Seton Hall. I did some digging and found out that they have club sports, which are more casual and student-run. That sounded right up my alley. They have a bunch of club sports, like rugby and ice hockey, and I saw women’s tennis listed there too.
- Decided to check out the women’s tennis club.
Next, I wanted to see who was involved and what the vibe was like. I stumbled upon some info about a coach named James Enzler, who seemed to have a lot of experience. Looked like he’s been around the block, playing for 15 years and coaching for 6. Cool, maybe he can teach me a thing or two. Then I learned that James Enzler is an Interim Head Coach, which means this might be a temporary position.
- Found out about the coach, James Enzler.
Then, I tried to get a sense of the team’s history. Turns out they had a head coach named Greg Wyzykowski a while back, like four seasons. Not sure what happened there, but it seems like things change. They also have a coach named Kevin McGlynn for the women’s tennis. Also, they had a media guide for tennis back in 2011. Wonder if they still do those? I enjoy reading stuff like that. It was a little dated, but hey, it gave me an idea of how things used to be.
- Learned about past coaches and found an old media guide.
I also saw that they have a roster for the 2020-21 season. It’s probably outdated now, but it was interesting to see the players’ names and where they were from. And guess what? I found out that their 2024 recruiting class is ranked #38 in the nation! That’s a big deal, the highest in Seton Hall Women’s Tennis history. Seems like they’re getting some good players in.
- Checked out the roster and saw their recruiting class ranking.
I just wanted to get out there and play, so I tried to find out how to join the club. It seems like club sports are funded by the members themselves, through fundraising and stuff. That’s kind of cool, everyone pitching in to make it happen. Also, I realized that many people are interested in playing for Seton Hall. I saw a list of high school players who want to be part of the team.
- Looked into joining the club and learned about the funding.
So, that’s where I’m at with this Seton Hall tennis adventure. I haven’t actually played a match yet, but I’m getting closer. It’s been fun learning about the team and the coaches, and seeing how it all comes together. Maybe one day I’ll be out there on the court, hitting some balls and having a good time. We’ll see what happens!
I also found some info about tennis terms and conditions from a site called ITA. I guess those are some rules to follow, I should read them to make sure I’m not breaking any rules.
- Discovered some rules to follow
Honestly, this whole thing has been a bit of a learning curve. But it seems like Seton Hall has a decent tennis scene, even if it’s just at the club level. I’m excited to see where this goes. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get good enough to compete someday. Or maybe I’ll just keep hitting balls for fun. Either way, it’s all good.
