Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get back into tennis, and Sunnyvale seemed like the perfect place to do it. I remember playing a lot as a kid, but, you know, life happens. So, I dusted off my old racket – it was practically an antique! – and decided to hit the courts.
Finding a Court
First things first, I needed to find a place to play. I did a quick search and found a few public courts nearby. It was surprisingly easy. I grabbed my phone, and within a few minutes, I got some options, noted down the addresses, simple!.
Getting Ready
Next, I rummaged through my closet for some suitable attire. Found some old shorts and a t-shirt that would do the trick. I even located my tennis shoes, hiding in the back. The were dusty, man but still in a good condition.
Hitting the Courts
I drove over to the courts, feeling a little nervous, not gonna lie. It’s been a while! When I got there, there was a family and two man playing, It’s not crowded, looks pretty good.
I found an empty court and started with some basic warm-ups. Stretched my arms, legs, you know, the usual. Then, I began hitting some balls against the wall. Felt pretty awkward at first. My forehand was all over the place, and my backhand… well, let’s just say it needed some work. But hey, I was there, right? That’s half the battle.
The Struggle (and the Fun)
I spent about an hour just hitting balls. Tried to remember the proper techniques, the footwork, everything. My serves were pathetic – mostly going into the net or way out. I think an old lady walking her dog could have returned them. But, after a while, I started to get into a rhythm. Started feeling that familiar thwack of the ball against the racket, and it felt good. It’s tough and sweat, but rewarding.
Cooling Down
I’m so exhausted but finally, after a long pratice, I started to pack my stuff and getting ready to leave.
- My arms were like jello.
- My legs were tired.
- But I felt great!
Even though my skills were rusty, to say the least, I had a blast. It was great to be outside, getting some exercise, and just enjoying the game. I definitely plan on going back again soon. Maybe next time I’ll even try to find a partner to play with. Who knows, maybe I’ll even get good again someday!
It’s a great start, now I have to keep this habit going on!.
