Okay, today I wanna talk about combining hockey practice, which I did with my kid last weekend.
First off, I got all the gear ready the night before. Skates, sticks, pucks, the whole shebang. I even sharpened the skates ’cause, you know, gotta have that edge on the ice.
Then, I woke up my kid early. He wasn’t thrilled, but I bribed him with pancakes. Worked like a charm. We got to the rink, and it was pretty empty, which was perfect for us to mess around without bothering anyone.
We started with some basic skating drills. Just going up and down the ice, practicing crossovers, stops, and starts. Nothing fancy, but it’s important to warm up those muscles, right?
After that, I set up some cones for stickhandling practice. We weaved in and out, trying different moves. My kid’s getting pretty good at it, I gotta say. I showed him a few new tricks I used to do back in the day. He even added some creativity with a ball instead of the puck to improve his agility.
- Take it outside
- Work on off the ice
- 1v1
- 2v2
- 3v3
Then came the fun part – shooting practice! I set up some targets in the net, and we took turns blasting pucks. I even let him win a few times, just to keep his spirits up.
We finished up with a little scrimmage. Just me and him, going one-on-one. It was tiring, but super fun. We both got a good workout, and it was some great bonding time. We also tried to play 2v2 and 3v3, but we have to wait for our friends next time.
In the end
all in all, it was a successful day of combining hockey practice. We got some exercise, worked on our skills, and had a blast. Can’t wait to do it again next weekend!
