Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and work on my game, focusing on some drills I found about Thomas Worthington basketball.
Getting Started
First things first, I drove to my local park. It’s got a decent court, though sometimes you gotta kick some kids off who are just messing around.
I started with some basic warm-ups. You know, the usual:
- Jogging around the court
- Some dynamic stretches – leg swings, arm circles, that kind of stuff
- A few layups to get a feel for the ball
The Drills
Then I got into the meat of it. The drills I was looking at focused on ball-handling and finishing at the rim, pretty standard Worthington stuff.
One drill involved dribbling the ball between my legs while moving up the court, then exploding to the basket for a layup. I messed up a few times, ball bouncing off my foot, typical me. But I kept at it, trying to get the rhythm down.
Another drill was all about footwork. I had to plant my inside foot, pivot, and then go up strong for the shot. I felt like an idiot at first, all clumsy and uncoordinated. But after a while, I started to feel the movement, getting a little smoother each time.
Free Throws, Because…
Of course, no practice is complete without free throws. I shot about 50, just focusing on my form, trying to keep my elbow in and follow through. My percentage? Let’s just say it needs work. A lot of work, but I did it.
Wrapping Up
Finally, I finished with some cool-down stretches. It felt good to get out there and sweat a bit, even if I wasn’t exactly looking like a Worthington highlight reel. It’s all about the process, right? Get in the court, and do the drills, and I did that!
I packed up my stuff and headed home. Maybe tomorrow I’ll work on my jump shot. Or maybe I’ll just watch Netflix. We’ll see.
