Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of prep hockey schools. It’s something I’ve been curious about for a while, especially with my kid getting more serious about hockey. I figured it was time to do some serious digging and figure out what these schools are all about.
I started by, you know, just hitting up Google. Typed in “prep hockey schools” and, boom, tons of stuff popped up. I spent a good hour just clicking through different school websites, trying to get a feel for what they offered. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. So many options, so much information!
After the initial Google frenzy, I decided I needed a more organized approach. I grabbed a notebook and started making a list of schools that caught my eye. I jotted down things like:
- Location (didn’t want my kid too far away, at least not yet!)
- Academic reputation (hockey’s important, but so are grades!)
- Hockey program details (coaching staff, facilities, league they play in)
- Just overall vibe of the school, the stuff you can only try and guess from a website.
This took a while, I mean, going through each website, it is time consuming, I felt like a real detective, piecing together clues. I even started watching some YouTube videos of games and campus tours – anything to get a better sense of the place.
Next, I thought, “Okay, I need to talk to some real people.” I started reaching out to some of the schools directly. Sent out a few emails with some basic questions, mostly about the application process and financial aid. We’ll see what I hear * was all for me today.
I also plan to ask my friends. My network of friends might have some friends with kids. So next, I will ask my friends about it.
I’m still in the early stages, I definitely haven’t cracked the code on prep hockey schools yet. But hey, at least I’ve got a starting point, a list of schools, and a whole lot of questions. It’s a process, right? I’ll keep digging, keep researching, and hopefully, I’ll figure out the best path for my kid. I hope so, I will keep you posted.
