Alright, let me tell ya somethin’ about this tennis thing at the college, ya know, the community college. It ain’t like Wimbledon or nothin’, but it’s somethin’ to do, keeps ya movin’, I guess.
So, they got this tennis class, see? You don’t gotta be no Serena Williams to join. Just gotta wanna smack a ball around a bit. They teach ya the basics, ya know, how to hold the racket, how to hit the ball over the net. It ain’t rocket science, I tell ya.
Now, I heard tell that there’s some fancy organization, somethin’ called the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, somethin’ like that. They look after all the college tennis, the big schools and the little ones too. But this here community college, it’s more for fun, ya know? Get some exercise, meet some folks.
- They got courts, plenty of ’em.
- You gotta sign up, though, can’t just walk on and start hittin’ balls.
- And they got other stuff too, not just tennis. Golf, yoga, all sorts of things to keep ya busy. Keeps them youngsters out of trouble, I reckon.
They got this buildin’, Building 8 they call it. Got a fancy name too, Physical Activities Center, somethin’ like that. But everyone just calls it the PAC. It’s real nice, got everything ya need. Swimming pool too, if that’s your thing. I ain’t been swimmin’ in years, water’s too cold for my old bones.
Now, some of these big colleges, like that Stanford place, they got real serious tennis teams. Win all sorts of championships, get scholarships and all that. But that ain’t what this community college is about. It’s for regular folks, ya know? People like you and me, just wantin’ to have a little fun.
They got different levels, I hear. Division 1, Division 2, Division 3. Lots of schools offer tennis, give out scholarships and such. But like I said, this here community college ain’t like that. It’s more laid back, ya know?
And let me tell ya somethin’ else. Most of these kids playin’ college tennis, they ain’t gonna turn pro. It’s just a small, small number that make it big. So don’t go gettin’ no fancy ideas, ya hear? Just enjoy yourself, get some exercise, that’s what it’s all about.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, somethin’ to keep ya active, this tennis class might be just the ticket. It ain’t gonna make ya famous, but it’ll get ya out of the house, get ya movin’ around. And that’s a good thing, I tell ya. Sitting around all day, that ain’t good for nobody.
They teach ya all sorts of things, how to serve, how to volley, how to keep score. It ain’t as easy as it looks, I tell ya. Gotta have good hand-eye coordination, gotta be quick on your feet. But even if you ain’t no athlete, you can still have fun. It’s the takin’ part that counts, that’s what they say.
And it’s a good way to meet people too. You’ll be out there on the court with other folks, hittin’ balls, chattin’, havin’ a laugh. It’s better than sittin’ at home watchin’ the TV, that’s for sure.
So, there ya have it. That’s the lowdown on the community college tennis class. It ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it’s somethin’. And sometimes, that’s all ya need.
