Okay, so I saw this thing online about “football breast cancer” and I was like, what’s that all about? I figured it had something to do with raising awareness, and I’m all for supporting good causes, so I decided to dive in and see what I could do.
First, I googled it, just to get a better idea of what was going on. I saw a bunch of stuff about NFL players wearing pink during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That made sense. Then I started thinking, how could I make this a thing, on a smaller scale, like with my own friends and family?
My Action Plan
I wanted to oragnize it, but I am not good at planning, so I listed it out, step by step.
- Find a Local Game: I started looking around for local football games. High school games, maybe even some amateur leagues. Somewhere I could actually go and participate.
- Get Some Pink Gear: I needed some pink stuff! I figured I could get some ribbons, maybe some pink wristbands or something. Easy enough to find online or at a party supply store.
- Gather My Crew: I started texting my buddies. “Hey, wanna go to a football game and support breast cancer awareness?” Most of them were in! Who doesn’t like football and a good cause?
- Make Some Noise: I thought we could make some signs. Nothing fancy, just some poster board and markers. “Tackle Breast Cancer,” “Pink Power,” stuff like that. We are not so creative.
- Spread the Word:I used my social media, posted some pics of us at the game, all decked out in pink.
So, that was my plan. And you know what? It actually worked! We went to a high school game, wore our pink, held up our signs, and cheered like crazy. It wasn’t some huge, organized event, but it felt good. People asked us what we were doing, and we got to explain a little bit about breast cancer awareness. It was simple, but it felt like we were making a tiny difference.
It’s not like I cured cancer or anything, but it was a fun way to show support and get people talking. And it all started with a simple question: “What’s this ‘football breast cancer’ thing all about?” Turns out, it’s about showing up, wearing pink, and making some noise. It felt very good.
