Okay, so today I decided to do something a little different and combine my love for football with a super important cause: breast cancer awareness. Here’s how it all went down.
Getting Started
First, I brainstormed some ideas. I mean, “breast cancer awareness football” is pretty broad, right? I could go a bunch of different ways with it. I thought about
- Maybe finding a local football game that was already doing something for awareness.
- Or, organizing my own little thing with friends.
- Even just doing something online, like sharing info or donating.
I decided I wanted to do something hands-on, something that felt a bit more… involved.
Making It Happen
So, I called up a few buddies who are also into football. I pitched them the idea of having a friendly game and using it as a way to raise some awareness and maybe even a little money for a breast cancer charity.
They were totally on board! We picked a date, a time, and a local park with a decent field. Next, I created a simple flyer – nothing fancy, just the basic info and a mention of the cause. I shared it on my social media and asked my friends to spread the word.
I also looked up some local breast cancer charities and chose one that I felt good about supporting. I figured we could collect donations at the game – even a few bucks from each person would add up.
Game Day!
The day finally arrived! We had a pretty good turnout – a mix of friends, family, and even a few strangers who saw the flyer. We played a fun, casual game. Some wore pink gears.
During halftime, I grabbed a small box and walked around, explaining what we were doing and asking for donations. People were really generous! It felt great to see everyone coming together for a good cause.
Wrapping Up
After the game, we counted up the donations. We raised a respectable amount! It wasn’t a huge sum, but it was something, and it felt good to know we were making a small difference.
I went online and made the donation to the charity, feeling pretty proud of what we’d accomplished. It wasn’t anything super elaborate, but it was a fun, meaningful way to combine something I enjoy (football) with something important (breast cancer awareness). And that’s a win in my book!
