Alright, so, let me tell you about this UConn field hockey camp I signed up for in 2024. I saw somewhere online that it was gonna be a good time, and since I’m always looking to get better at field hockey, I figured, why not?
First off, I registered for the camp. It was pretty simple, just had to fill out some forms online and pay the fee. Nothing too complicated. Once that was sorted, I started getting pumped. I mean, it’s UConn! They’ve got a solid program, and I heard their coaching staff is top-notch. Some of them even played for the U.S. National Team, can you believe that?
When the day finally arrived, I packed my gear and headed over. The facilities were impressive, a really nice field and all the equipment you could need. We started with some warm-up drills, you know, the usual stuff. Then, we got into some more specific training. They had these small group sessions, which were awesome. I’m a goalie, and they had this special curriculum just for us. We worked on a bunch of techniques and drills in the morning, and then we’d join the others for some of the afternoon sessions to apply what we learned.
- Warm-up drills
- Specific training
- Small group sessions for goalies
- Technique practice
- Afternoon sessions with the whole group
The coaches were super helpful. They really took the time to explain things and give personalized feedback. It wasn’t just about getting better at the game, though. They also talked about the importance of teamwork, discipline, and all that good stuff. It felt like they really cared about us as players and as people.
They had some rules, of course. Like, if you broke the rules, you might not be allowed back in the future, and they had some policies about refunds that you could check on their website. Seemed fair enough to me.
Overall, it was a killer experience. I learned a ton, met some cool people, and had a blast. If you’re serious about field hockey, I’d definitely recommend checking out the UConn camp. It’s worth it!
