Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of UMass BC hockey. I’ve always been a bit curious about how college sports teams manage their schedules, stats, and all that jazz. So, I thought, why not try to find some data and mess around with it?
First things first, I needed to get my hands on some info. I started by just hitting up the usual spots – you know, the team’s official website, maybe some sports news sites, that kind of thing. I figured they’d have schedules posted, player rosters, game results, the whole nine yards.
After a bit of poking around, I managed to find the official schedules. It was a bit messy at first, a whole bunch of dates and times, but I started copying and pasting stuff into a simple spreadsheet. Just to keep things organized, you know?
Getting Organized
- Created a new spreadsheet
- Made columns for Date, Time, Opponent, Location (Home/Away)
- Started filling in the data from the schedules I found.
I Then realized, it would great to track the score of the hockey games.
I decided to add more columns into spreadsheet
- UMass Goals
- Opponent Goals
- Win/Loss/Tie
I kept digging and found some game summaries and box scores on various websites. It took a little while, but I managed to piece together most of the results for the season. Sometimes I had to check a couple of different sources to make sure I had the right scores, it was a bit like detective work!
Finally, I thought it would be pretty cool and interesting to see if I could visualize it at the end.
So there you have it – that’s how I spent my day getting nerdy with UMass BC hockey data. It was actually pretty fun, and I learned a thing or two along the way.
