Alright, so, I’ve been meaning to catch a good hockey game for a while now, and I finally got around to it. I decided to check out a game between UMass and BU. Let me tell you, it was quite the experience!
Getting Ready for the Game
First off, I did a little digging on both teams. Just wanted to get a feel for their standings and maybe who I should root for, you know? It’s always more fun when you’re at least a little invested. After checking them out, I found that I wanted to root for UMass because they were the underdogs!
Arriving at the Arena
So, game day rolls around, and I make my way to the arena. I grabbed a parking spot without too much trouble. That’s always a good start! Then, I went inside and the atmosphere was electric. You could feel the buzz of excitement in the air. Fans all decked out in their team colors, the smell of popcorn and hot dogs, the whole nine yards.
Finding My Seat
I found my seat, which was pretty decent. Not too close, not too far, just a nice view of the whole rink. I settled in, got myself a drink, and waited for the action to start.
The First Period
The puck drops, and it’s game on! Both teams came out flying. The pace was fast, lots of back-and-forth action. UMass got on the board first, and the crowd went wild! BU answered back pretty quickly, though. It was intense!

The Second Period
The second period was even more heated. A couple of big hits, some nice saves by both goalies. There was a power play for each team, but neither could capitalize. It was still tied going into the third. I got up, stretched my legs, and refilled my drink.

- Still tied!
The Third Period
Man, the third period was a nail-biter! Both teams were giving it their all. You could tell they really wanted this win. UMass took the lead again, and I was on the edge of my seat! But, BU wasn’t going down without a fight. They pressed hard and managed to tie it up again late in the period.

- BU fights back!
- Tied again!
Overtime
Overtime! Can you believe it? Five minutes of sudden-death hockey. Both teams had some chances, but the goalies were on fire. It felt like it could go either way. And then, with just under a minute left, BU scored! The place erupted! It was a heartbreaker for UMass, but what a game!

After the Game
I stuck around for a bit, just soaking in the atmosphere. Even though my team didn’t win, it was an awesome experience. I grabbed some food, took a couple of pictures, and headed home, thinking about what I just witnessed.
All in all, it was a fantastic night of hockey. Definitely going to catch another game soon. Maybe I’ll see some of you there!
