Okay, so yesterday I decided to dive into this “vahsl girls tennis” thing. I’d heard some buzz about it, and, well, I’m always up for trying something new, especially if it involves getting a bit active.
First, I googled “vahsl girls tennis” to even see what was going on. Turns out, it’s a high school league. I watched a few videos. Seemed like a great place to get started.
Getting the Gear
- Racket: I didn’t want to spend a fortune, so I borrowed one that old.
- Balls: Picked up a can of used ones. Figure they’d be fine for a beginner like me.
- Shoes: Just wore my regular running shoes.
The Actual Hitting
I found a local court that was empty. It was a bit windy, which made things… interesting. My first few serves? Straight into the net. Or way out of bounds. It was pretty discouraging, to be honest.
I tried to remember the basic form I’d seen in the videos – you know, knees bent, eye on the ball, follow through. It felt awkward as heck. My arms were all over the place. And my timing? Let’s just say I whiffed a lot.
After about an hour, I was starting to get a little better. I managed to get a few serves in, and even had a couple of short rallies with myself (yeah, I was playing solo). It was exhausting, though. Way more of a workout than I expected!
My Takeaway
I’m not going to lie, it was rough. I definitely need a lot more practice. But, even though I was terrible, it was kind of fun. I can see why people get into tennis. It’s challenging, but also satisfying when you actually connect with the ball.
I’m gonna give it another go, try watch some more videos, I think I need that, and hopefully, I’ll see some improvement next time. Maybe I’ll even try to find someone to play with – someone who won’t laugh at me too much, anyway. That’s the plan!
