Okay, here is my sharing about “newington hockey” based on my experience:
I finally got around to trying out that newington hockey thing everyone’s been talking about. I’ve always been a fan of ice hockey, but I never really got into it myself. So, I decided to give it a shot.
First things first, I needed to find a place to learn. I searched online and found out there were actually “Learn to Play Hockey” classes nearby, which is great for beginners like me. These classes are for kids aged 3.5 to 8, but hey, I figured it’s never too late to learn. They meet once a week for 12 sessions, each with professional on-ice training.
I signed up for the classes. Honestly, I was a bit nervous at first. I mean, I hadn’t been on ice skates in years, and the last time I tried, let’s just say it wasn’t pretty. But the coaches were super patient and encouraging. They started us off with the basics, like how to stand on the ice without falling, how to glide, and how to stop.
- We started with some basic skating drills.
- Then we moved on to stickhandling and passing.
- Finally, we got to play some mini-games.
I have to say, it was a lot harder than I expected. Balancing on those thin blades while trying to control a puck is no easy feat. I fell down a bunch of times, but I kept getting back up. And you know what? With each session, I got a little bit better.
After a few weeks, I felt like I was finally getting the hang of it. The classes are over now. I wouldn’t say I’m ready for the NHL just yet, but I can now skate around without falling every five seconds, and I can even pass the puck to my teammates (most of the time). I even joined some pick-up hockey games. It’s a great way to practice and meet new people. I’m not scoring any goals yet, but I’m having fun, and that’s what matters.
What’s next?
I’m thinking of getting some extra training. I saw something online about “Hockey Video Training,” which is like a customized service to help you improve your hockey IQ and decision-making. Sounds interesting, right? Maybe I’ll check that out.
All in all, it was a great experience. It was challenging, but also a lot of fun. I’m definitely going to keep playing. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll even join a league. But for now, I’m just happy to be able to skate and play without embarrassing myself too much.
If you’re thinking about trying out ice hockey, I say go for it! It’s a great sport, and it’s a lot of fun, even if you’re not very good at it (like me). Just be prepared to fall down a lot, and don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself.
That’s it for my hockey adventure so far. Stay tuned for more updates, hopefully with fewer falls and more goals!
