Okay, so I was checking out the George Washington University women’s tennis team today, and boy, it was a trip. I really wanted to figure out how to get involved with this team and what it takes. First thing I did was just a simple search online. Just wanted to see what’s out there about them, you know?
Then, I found that this school is in the District of Columbia. It’s a pretty big deal, especially for sports.
I dug a little deeper and looked up the coaches and the program itself. Their official website had some stuff, but I wanted more, like, real details. Found out that the head coach is named George Rodriguez. He seems like a big deal, and he was selected by the Director of Athletics, Tanya Vogel, which sounds important.
After that, I stumbled upon something called the NCSA student-athlete portal. I spent a lot of time there. This place has tons of information on athletic scholarships and how to join the team. It was like a gold mine for anyone trying to get into college sports. I made notes on all the important stuff, like eligibility and how to get noticed by the coaches.
Intramural Sports and Divisions
Then, I also looked into the intramural sports at the university. I found out that if someone identifies as female, they can play in both the women’s division and the men’s division if there’s no women’s division for that sport. That’s pretty cool and inclusive. I read through the registration instructions just to get an idea, even though I was more focused on the actual tennis program.
- Explored the school’s location and background.
- Checked out the coaches and the program.
- Got lost in the NCSA portal, which was super helpful.
- Checked out the rules for intramural sports.
All in all, it was a productive day. I feel like I’ve got a good handle on what the George Washington University women’s tennis team is all about. I have a clear path forward now to engage with them further. It’s a lot of work, but I think it’s worth it to be part of such a cool program.
