Okay, so I wanted to get better at basketball, and I kept seeing this name, Caleb Walker, pop up in training videos. I figured I’d give his stuff a shot. Here’s how it went down.
Finding the Drills
First, I spent some time just watching videos. I typed “Caleb Walker basketball drills” into the search bar and, boom, tons of stuff came up. I watched a few to get a feel for his style. He seemed pretty legit, focusing on fundamentals, which is exactly what I needed.
The First Workout
I picked a basic ball-handling video to start. It was, like, 15 minutes long. I grabbed my basketball and headed to the park down the street. I found a relatively empty court, propped my phone up against my water bottle, and hit play.
- The first few drills were simple – pound dribbles, crossovers, between the legs. Stuff I’d done before, but he emphasized keeping your eyes up, which I’m terrible at.
- Then he moved into some more complicated stuff – behind-the-back moves, combinations. My hands were fumbling all over the place! I definitely looked like a beginner.
- I kept at it, though. I paused the video a few times to rewind and try again. Sweat was dripping.
Sticking With It
I decided I commit at that practice, and tried to do at least one of his workouts a few times a week. Honestly, some days were rough. My coordination felt off, I kept losing the ball. But I noticed, little by little, that my handles were getting tighter. I wasn’t as clumsy.
I did another one, and another one.
The Results (So Far)
I’m not going to lie, I’m still not amazing. But I can feel a difference. My dribbling is more controlled. I can actually keep my head up more often. And I’m starting to feel more confident on the court. It’s not a miracle cure, but it’s definitely helping. I’m going to keep practicing and see how much more I can improve. Maybe I’ll even try some of his shooting drills next!
