Okay, so today I decided to get back on the court and try this “Cherry Kim Tennis” thing I’ve been hearing about. I’m not a pro or anything, just someone who likes to hit the ball around for fun and exercise. I dusted off my old racket and headed to the local park.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed a partner. Luckily, my buddy Mark was free. We’re pretty evenly matched, which makes for some good rallies. We started with a simple warm-up, just hitting the ball back and forth to get a feel for it. My forehand was feeling a bit rusty, to be honest, but my backhand was surprisingly solid.
The “Cherry Kim” Part
So, what is this “Cherry Kim” thing anyway? From what I gathered, it’s kind of a drill, kind of a game. You focus on consistency and placement, trying to keep the ball in play and moving your opponent around. We decided to give it a shot.
- We started by hitting cross-court shots, aiming for the corners.
- Then we mixed in some down-the-line shots to keep each other guessing.
- The goal was to keep the rally going as long as possible, focusing on control over power.
Feeling the Burn
Let me tell you, this “Cherry Kim” thing is a workout! It’s not about smashing the ball as hard as you can. It’s about controlled, consistent shots, and that means you’re running… a lot. I was definitely feeling it in my legs after a while. We took a few water breaks to catch our breath.
Mixing it Up
After a few rounds of “Cherry Kim,” we decided to play a couple of regular games, just for fun. It was interesting to see how the drill work translated to a more competitive setting. I felt like my shots were more consistent, and I was definitely moving better on the court.
Wrapping Up
We played for about two hours, and by the end, I was pretty tired, but in a good way. It was a fun day, and I definitely felt like I got a good workout. My takeaway practice that I will make use of is This “Cherry Kim” practice is a good way to improve my consistency and court coverage. I should do this to my playing routine.
I will play more often!
