Well, ain’t this somethin’. West Point Hockey Camp. Never thought I’d be talkin’ about such things. But here I am, gonna tell ya ’bout it, just like I see it.
So, this here camp, it’s at West Point. You know, where them soldier boys go. And they got a hockey camp there. For kids, they say. Boys, mostly. Ages 8 to 17. That’s a big range, ain’t it? Little tykes and big fellas all together. Learnin’ hockey, they say.
- They got overnight campin’, or ya can just go for the day.
- Sleepin’ there, or just learnin’ and then headin’ home. Choice is yours.
Now, hockey. That’s on the ice, right? They got ice there, at West Point. In the Holleder Center, they call it. Kids get to skate and play there. Learn from coaches. Experienced coaches, they say. Guess that means they know their stuff.
Learn from the best, they say. At West Point, that’s what you get, I reckon. They teach them boys how to play hockey real good. Two times a day, they get on the ice. Practice and playin’ games. Scrimmage, they call it. Runnin’ around, hittin’ the puck. Just like the big fellas on TV, I bet.
And when they ain’t on the ice, what do they do? They use the campus facilities, they say. Fancy words. Means they use what’s there. Activities, they got. Off-ice activities. Keepin’ them boys busy. Tired them out, I hope. Boys got a lot of energy, ya know.
They got a Instagram, too. That’s pictures, right? Pictures of the Army West Point Hockey team. They play in the NCAA Division I. Big stuff, sounds like. Travel hockey, high school hockey. These boys, they been playin’ a while, I guess. Thirty cadets get to play at a high level. Full contact, they say. Rough and tumble, like boys are.
Summer camp. That’s what this is. A summer hockey experience. One of a kind, they say. Special. Unique. Guess it is, at West Point. Army Hockey Camp. Learn from coaches, play on the ice, use the facilities. Keeps them kids busy. Gives ’em somethin’ to do in the summer.
And there’s a club hockey too. Army Club Hockey. Not sure what that is, but it’s there. Must be different from the regular team. More kids gettin’ to play, maybe. More learnin’ and fun. That’s what it’s all about, right? Kids havin’ fun, learnin’ somethin’ new.
Hockey vs. RMC. Saw that somewhere. Guess they play games, too. Competitions. Black Knights, they call ’em. Strong name, ain’t it? Fittin’, for a team at West Point. Military Academy, they call it. Where they make soldiers. Tough boys. And good hockey players, seems like.
So, that’s West Point Hockey Camp. For kids to learn hockey, have fun, and maybe even become good players. Overnight or day camp. Coaches, ice, facilities. All there, at West Point. A summer experience. One of a kind. Just like they say.
