Okay, so I’ve been meaning to recap my experience with the 2011 Big Ten Basketball Tournament. Man, that feels like a lifetime ago! I remember being super hyped about it, you know, college hoops, the energy, the rivalries… it was awesome.
First, I scoured the internet for the schedule. I needed to know when and where the games were happening. Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, that’s where the magic was going down. Back then, finding all the info wasn’t as easy as it is now, with everything at your fingertips. Had to piece it together from different websites.
Getting the Tickets
Then came the ticket hunt. Oh boy, this was a mission! I checked out a bunch of online ticket vendors. Prices were all over the place, some ridiculously inflated. I ended up finding some decent seats, not courtside or anything, but good enough to soak in the atmosphere. I didn’t wanted to go broke for one tournement.
The Tournament Experience
- Drove down to Indy with a couple of buddies. Road trip!
- Checked into our super basic, but conveniently located, hotel. Nothing fancy, just a place to crash.
- Hit up the games! The energy in the Fieldhouse was electric. Seriously, you could feel it.
- Watched some nail-biters, some blowouts… the whole nine yards.
- Cheered my heart out. Lost my voice a little, not gonna lie.
- Grabbed some overpriced, but tasty, stadium food. Gotta have those nachos, right?
Looking Back, It all paid off
I specifically remember the final game, I dug into the old tournament brackets online. Ohio State against Penn State. Ohio State took the win, 71-60. It was a solid game, a good finale to the whole tournament.
Overall, it was a blast. A bit of a scramble to get everything organized, but totally worth it. The thrill of live college basketball, the camaraderie with friends, the whole experience… it’s something I’ll always remember. That 2011 tournament was definitely one for the books, at least in my book!
