Well now, let me tell you a little something ’bout this young fella, Will McDonough. He’s just 19 years old, born on June 18, 2005, up there in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Now, you may not know it, but this boy’s been makin’ quite a name for himself out there on the ice. Not too long ago, he was playin’ with the Sioux Falls Stampede, out there in the USHL, that’s the United States Hockey League, if you’re wonderin’.
So, let me take ya back a bit. This Will McDonough, he ain’t no stranger to hard work. From a young age, folks say he had a natural gift for hockey, and it didn’t take long before he was skatin’ circles around kids much older than him. He’s not one of them fancy city boys either, no sir. He comes from a small town called Duxbury, and you know them country folks, they got grit in ’em. They work hard and play harder, especially when it comes to hockey. Will, he started playin’ for Boston Advantage, which is a team outta Massachusetts, and that’s when people started takin’ notice.
Now, don’t go thinkin’ this young man just showed up outta nowhere. Nope, he’s been puttin’ in the time. A lotta folks remember when he was on the U.S. Under-18 Men’s Select Team back in 2022, playin’ in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, up in Red Deer, Alberta. That’s a big deal, folks. He and his team didn’t win, but they sure did their best, takin’ 5th place in a tough competition. Will got to play in three games during that tournament, and from what I hear, he made a good impression on folks who were watchin’.
Now, fast forward a bit, and this fella was back with the Sioux Falls Stampede, just doin’ his thing. I reckon he’s been playin’ with them for a couple of seasons now, and in the 2022-2023 season, he appeared in 59 games. He wasn’t just skatin’ around, neither. He scored 12 goals and got 13 assists, and that’s no small feat in a league like the USHL. That’s where a lotta the best young talent in the country go to make a name for themselves. And Will McDonough, he’s doin’ just that.
Let me tell ya, it ain’t easy workin’ your way up in the world of junior hockey. A lotta them boys got dreams of playin’ in the NHL, and it don’t just fall into their laps. Will, he’s got a bright future ahead of him. Some folks think he’s gonna be playin’ college hockey soon, and with his skills, I reckon they’re right. You watch—before too long, you might see his name poppin’ up on some college team rosters or even in the pros. He’s got that spark in him, that drive to succeed, and that’s somethin’ you can’t teach.
But what’s really impressive ‘bout Will McDonough, more than his stats and his skills, is the way he carries himself. Folks who know him say he’s down-to-earth, humble, and works harder than most. That’s somethin’ you can’t just learn from playin’ hockey—it’s in his bones. And that’s the kinda person you wanna root for, isn’t it? The ones who are good on the ice but even better off it.
So, as he keeps workin’ his way up, you best believe we’ll be hearin’ more about Will McDonough. Whether he’s breakin’ records, makin’ plays, or just bein’ a good ol’ boy from Duxbury, I got a feelin’ his name’s gonna be stickin’ around for a while. Keep an eye on him, folks. He’s gonna make it big, mark my words.
