Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get back into some kind of regular exercise, and I remembered that Wright State used to have a club football team. I figured, “Why not?” It’s been a while since my glory days, but I thought it could be fun to at least check it out.
Digging for Info
First things first, I needed to find out if this club even still existed. I started with a simple online search. I typed in “Wright State club football” and hoped for the best. I found some old pages, forum posts even, but nothing really concrete or up-to-date.
Then I hit up the Wright State website. I figured they’d have a list of active clubs or something. Navigated around their student life section, clubs and organizations pages…nothing jumped out at me specifically mentioning “football.” Plenty of other sports clubs, but not what I was looking for.
Reaching Out
I decided to try a more direct approach. I looked for a general “student activities” or “campus recreation” contact email on the Wright State website. I found one, and I crafted a quick email, something like:
“Hi, I’m an alumni/community member and was wondering if Wright State still has a club football team. If so, how can I get more information about joining or practices?”
I sent it off and waited. It felt a bit like a shot in the dark, to be honest.
Social Media Hunt
Since I wasn’t getting any answer on my mail, I began searching on social media platforms.I tried searching Facebook for groups like “Wright State Club Football” or “Wright State Intramural Sports.” Found a few groups, but most of them looked pretty inactive, with posts from several years ago. No recent updates or announcements.
Dead End?
After a week of digging, I am coming with no answer. I am starting to suspect they removed the club. Maybe I’ll check back another time, perhaps they will resume in the future.
