Well, let me tell ya about Xaverian Hockey. Now, don’t get me wrong, I ain’t no expert on all them fancy moves and high-tech equipment they use, but I do know a thing or two about what makes a good hockey team. And let me tell ya, Xaverian’s got themselves a fine bunch of boys playin’ the game.
Xaverian Brothers High, it’s a Catholic school out in Westwood, Massachusetts. Now, it ain’t one of them places you’d expect a whole lotta fancy talk. It’s all about hard work, discipline, and gettin’ the job done. They’ve been around since 1963, and they’ve got a hockey team that’s been makin’ a lotta noise over the years. Their Varsity Hockey Team, well, they sure know how to put the puck in the net!
Let me tell you somethin’. Back in 2021-2022, they won themselves a Championship. That’s right, they was on top of the world. They came out swingin’ and took that title like it was nothin’. But even after that, they didn’t rest on their laurels. No sir, they came out in 2022-2023 with a mighty fine start, 8-1! That’s the kinda thing that gets ya noticed, and they didn’t let up. Every game, they played like they was out to prove somethin’—and they did.
Now, I don’t know all them young fellas by name, but I do know this: Xaverian’s got a roster full of talent. They got boys who’ve been playin’ the game for years and boys who’s just gettin’ their feet wet. But they all play like a team, and that’s what makes a difference. You gotta work together if you want to win, and them boys in Xaverian know that well.
Last season, folks was talkin’ about more than just the scores. Oh, sure, they had their playoff victories, and they made it all the way to the Super 8. But what folks noticed most about that team was how close-knit they was. It wasn’t just about who could skate the fastest or slap the hardest. Nah, it was about how they had each other’s backs. They was a real team, not just a group of individuals, and that’s somethin’ you can’t put on a scoreboard.
When COVID hit, well, that sure put a damper on things. Not just for Xaverian, but for every team out there. But they didn’t let it get ‘em down for long. After that long break, they came back with a vengeance. Them boys was hungry to get back on the ice, and you could see it in every shift they played. It was like they was pickin’ up right where they left off.
And I’ll tell ya, when you look at the Xaverian Clippers, you don’t just see a hockey team. You see a family. The coaches, the players, even the folks who cheer ‘em on from the stands—they’re all part of somethin’ bigger than just a game. And that’s why Xaverian Hockey is somethin’ special.
