Okay, so the other day I was itching to get outside and do something fun. I’d been hearing about this pond hockey tournament up on Lake Champlain, and it sounded like a blast. I mean, who doesn’t love some good old-fashioned pond hockey?
First things first, I rounded up some buddies. You can’t have a pond hockey game without a crew, right? We got a solid group of six guys together – enough for some 3-on-3 action.
Next, we needed to gear up. We all dug out our old hockey equipment from the depths of our garages and basements. Skates, sticks, helmets – the whole nine yards. Some of the gear had seen better days, but hey, that’s part of the charm, right?
The Journey Begins
We loaded up the cars early Saturday morning. The drive up to Lake Champlain was pretty scenic, with snow-covered trees and mountains all around. We cranked up some tunes and got ourselves hyped for the game.
When we arrived, the scene was amazing. There were tons of people out on the ice, with makeshift rinks set up everywhere. The air was crisp and cold, and you could feel the energy and excitement all around.
Game Time!
We found a good spot, shoveled off some snow, and set up our own little rink. Then, it was game on! We laced up our skates, taped up our sticks, and hit the ice.
The game itself was a total blast. We were slipping and sliding, chasing the puck, and trying our best to score some goals. There were definitely some epic fails, but also some pretty sweet plays. We were all laughing and cheering, just having a great time.
- Scored a couple of goals. Not gonna lie, felt pretty good.
- Took a few spills. The ice was a bit rough in spots, but hey, that’s pond hockey.
- Shared some laughs and some good-natured trash talk.
We are all tried and sweaty, with a great exhausted after the game.
Wrapping Up
After a few hours of playing, we were all pretty exhausted. We packed up our gear, grabbed some hot chocolate, and headed back home.
Overall, it was an awesome day. It was great to get outside, get some exercise, and hang out with friends. The Lake Champlain pond hockey experience was definitely one for the books. I’m already looking forward to doing it again next year!
